The She I Long To Be

I'd like to introduce you to someone that I've known for quite sometime. She is someone that I admire; for her strength, compassion and generosity. She is not what most would consider beautiful, at least not hollywood beautiful and thats ok with her, because she knows that is just a facade, a store front for what they are selling. Beauty fades and when it does, its whats left that matters most. She has a quiet confidence about her. She is humble and gracious. She knows her place in the world and accepts it. She has an understanding of people and that helps her to not allow them to bring her down.

In some ways we are alike; we share the same love for our family, the same steadfast commitment and faithfulness to the man that we love. She is a passionate lover, and a passionate fighter for what she believes in. She will defend those that she loves to the death. She is creative and artistic. She has created a home that speaks her language and is welcoming to all who would visit there.

Her faith in God is unwavering. She has no doubt about what lies beyond this life. She does not look for acceptance in everyone she meets; she doesn't try to please everyone, because she understands that that is impossible and will just hurt and frustrate her in the end. Her life is not perfect, but she accepts the imperfections because she knows that life is a process of trial and error; as long as you learn from your mistakes and move on; she sees that mistakes are lessons learned.

Her children are her heart and soul. When they think of her it brings a smile to their faces and warm memories of growing up to mind. She is the one that they turn to when they don't know what else to do; she helps them to feel safe and gives them the confidence to make it through. She will not tell them what to do, but offers guidance that is born of experience; if they accept her advice or not, that's ok with her. She gives them the space to grow and become the persons they were meant to be. They have no doubt that no matter what, she will be waiting on the other side of whatever it is that they may be going through, and they know that each has their own special place in her heart.

She is the light of her husband's life; his comfort, his confidant, his best friend and lover. She feels that as long as everything between them is right, all is right with the world. She loves to go away with him and have him all to herself, see she is somewhat selfish with him and admits, that that is one of her guilty pleasures.

Her dreams and ideals may seem unrealistic at times, but that's okay too. She would say that we all have the right to dream, that our dreams can be as big or small as we allow them to be, because they are ours. She has the courage to take that step out into the unknown to pursue what her heart yearns for. Her desires run deep, they are part of what makes her the person that she is; part of the fabric that is her.

I'd like to introduce you to someone that I've know for quite sometime. I'd like to introduce you to the she I long to be.
