Unwind Me

Unwind Me

A Poem by R. L. Ives
"

Let me tell you about my place

"

As I leave there and come here,
the winding road seems to unwind me.
unplugged,
disconnected,
detached
from all that clutters my mind,
stealing my peace like a thief.

I wish I could find the words
to impart precisely what coming here means.
Perhaps I do not yet completely understand myself,
why I am drawn to this place, this rather unimpressive town,
why it calls out to me in a way that I hear not with my ears but with my soul.
It's a very simple place really,
not fancy,
not exciting.
But, I suppose I'm not looking for either of those things.
My heart seeks stillness and calm,
my mind clarity and order.

Serenity, solitude, sanctuary.
No demands or deadlines.
Unplugged,
disconnected,
detached.

Just quiet,
quiet.

Breathe.
Close my eyes,
and I can finally breathe.

There is so much you want to say but there isnt a really good flow to it, it makes it hard to read. doesnt have to rhyme or anything could just be layout :)
