Stair Well

Stair Well

A Poem by zombiebird

You okay? he asked
In the strange isolation of the stairwell, and I didn’t answer
With the truth
But I heard, and the tears pricked my eyes
I was fine, I was fine
Somewhere between the voice
And its lonely echo, I was fine

Very short but I got what you felt and were saying. Nice poem. I look forward to reading your short story "The School Bus" soon.
