Inconvenient ThoughtsA Poem by Chip MurisonThis is about dealing with anxious thoughts.Tugging at my footstep Pulling on my pants The voices in my mind Are such inconvenient children Who cry at the grocery store Who tantrum on the sidewalk Who won't stop talking When there is work to be done And then When I'm finally sleeping From exhaustion Caused by them They wake me up in the middle of the night To tell me they are scared And thirsty. Come to me My children Let me gather you around And cover you with kisses. Why are you crying my little ones Let me listen to your stories Tell me Your pains and your fears Their stories are so true So sweet and so sad That we weep together In the graveyard of the past Gently sobbing Laying sorrow down to rest At last... And the morning light fades Biding the night Goodbye While the sun rises In perfect silence.
