"Gifts" Can Be Fatal

"Gifts" Can Be Fatal

A Poem by Rachel
"

shows you that everyone has their intutions

"

A girl, alone, empty, petite,

Comes to a cross on the street,

                                Someone comes up to her

It is a man, or seems to be,

She is scared, who is he?

He seems to care about her

He has a bag, a monstrous thing,

He reaches in and pulls on a string,

He gives a “gift” to her.

Normally I would say that the third, sixth and ninth line break up the flow of the poem. But in this case it fits in really well to break up the couplets. You do however need a period at the end of all of them. XD

I love the play on words with gift/poison. This poem definitely goes to show how important it is to stick to your instincts. I also like the ambiguity of the word poison or gift, because aside from the literal there are so many things that the 'poison' could be. I think this is a very haunting peice, with a hint of a warning. Awesome work
