Eating Weeds

Eating Weeds

A Poem by R.J. Seoul
"

I'm not a vegetarian, but I found the subject matter interesting

"

You can blind my eyes from seeing the seeds that fall from the trees and

Litter your perfect rows

You can deafen my ears from hearing the wind coursing over the dirt,

Throwing your plants out of line

You can deprive me of the sweet taste of grass, feeding me my brother

But I will always taste the drops of rain upon my tongue, as they

Drown your precious harvest.

You can end by murdering me,

Killing me in warm blood,

Thick blood,

Red blood,

No different than yours.

I know that

as sure as you kill me,

cook me,

and feed me to your children,

as sure as you finish my energy,

that which was created from my brother

you will surely s**t me out.

and I know that

as sure as you s**t me out,

I will return to the ground you sow.

You can deprive me of my life,

I give you that permission.

But know that I will forever live among the weeds,

choking your crops.
