True StoryA Poem by Bishop R. Joseph Owles
Because we can end homelessness, we just don't want to;
Because we can end wars, we just don't want to; We can take measures to stop violence, we just don't want to; We can feed all the people who are hungry in the world, and we can put people to work, We just don't want to. And if we pray for those things, We have to -- for lack of a better word -- Confess that we really don't give a damn About anyone or anything, But our own self-interest, just like everyone else. So we have to cloak that by praying the gay away, Or some other activity that looks "religious" But is really just bigoted, or hurtful, or judgmental Presented in "religious"wrapping. © 2013 Bishop R.
