A Moment

I love the sight of sunlight streaming through leaves :) A series of senryus

The green leaves are soaked

After the warm summer rain

In the midst of May

Sunlight streams through leaves

Sparrows chirp and fly around

In the tranquil yard

The shadows of trees

Paint the features of your eyes,

You lean in slowly

Your kiss arrests time;

Breeze ruffles my dupatta -

The sun is setting

I hope you don't get bored by my fascination with rain :P

Oh, and if you don't know, a dupatta is a kind of long scarf :)

I absolutely love how poets can manipulate words and images together and create something as beautiful as this poem within the delicate confines of Senryu or Haiku. This is one of those poems. I love the nature imagery, and I too love the rain! That last stanza about the kiss is beautiful! Excellent choice of words and images!

First, very vivid and lovely description of nature, Riya. My compliments. Regarding dupatta, you can replace it with 'garments / scarf, for this beautiful poem to have universal appeal.(i see smurfett was stumped :))

Too funny poet....as I was finishing the final line, I was thinking what's a dupatta? lol Then I read your note. It is easy to get lost in the rain...the whole idea of it is calming, restoring and refreshing....I also love the rain...Very vivid is your poem. Thank you
