~ a million giggles of gratitude

~ a million giggles of gratitude

A Poem by . serah .
"

somewhat poetic prose; i write merely to exercise my right to write; the story of last night lol :p

"
monsieur scalpel,
shortly after i informed you
about my trip to the emergency ward
of a local hospital
for an anti-allergy shot
and i was bragging about how
i wasn't feeling drowsy,
i collapsed into a partial slumber
before falling into the paradise
of a deep sleep
so, the meds worked their magic
and save for the exhaustion-ache
which is the natural effect
of heavy medication
which bothered me for a few hours
i healed from a sudden
rather ferocious
and inexplicable allergy attack
which arrived in my universe
while i was watching a mildly
scary horror movie
so i was fighting another battle as well
i was trying not to giggle
because i was amused by where
the horror movie took me
(if it did)
and then i was trying not to giggle
while in the hospital
with thoughts of you swarming
my mind
just because this was my first trip
to a hospital after bumping into you
in may 2015
(which somehow seems like
something that happened centuries
ago)
i thought you would suddenly pop out
of a corner
and yell at me for landing up in a hospital around midnight
before realizing that i was red with a strange rash
and it wasn't a result of me being rash
with you
or you being rash with me
and to my utter delight
i couldn't remember
at any point during last night
that the last time i spent so much time
in a hospital
was when my mother was battling cancer
and i was sobbing or on the verge of sobbing
she was with me
and she didn't seem perturbed either
we were very pleased
with the way a devoted doc
and nurses
were buzzing around us
to make sure we were okay
and we were thinking about you
and wondering if you were
attending to someone
in an emergency ward
in a hospital
just a few hours away
and helping someone feel better
so, thank you for being you
and helping me heal
from the fear of hospitals
i actually thought there was
a new fragrance in the air
and i silently sent you
a million giggles of gratitude
and a warm and friendly
no skin-contact hug
you're my favourite
human med

This is phenomenal. It played through my mind like a short film. You really did a great job with the layers of depth you have going on here. Looking at the different ways a person can heal or how being together can transcend physical boundaries are two things that clicked for me as well as others. The wordplay made it even more subtle. Fine work.
