This Fathers Pride and Joy

This Fathers Pride and Joy

A Poem by David Ritter

There are few things in this world,
that this Dad would truly treasure,
above what my son has done,
for he has brought much pleasure.

He did not hit a home run,
nor throw a touchdown pass.
He did not bag a trophy buck,
or catch the state record bass.

Never voted homecoming king,
nor ever dated the queen.
He didn't get the plays lead,
or enlist to be a marine.

Now all these things are noble,
and would make any father proud.
But what my young man achieved,
to me stands out above the crowd.

Whats this deed my lad attained,
that has brought this Dad much joy?
He made the school's honor roll,
and so I cheer,"thats my boy!"
