Mattering to Him

Katie found that in high school, she didn't always know where to go and what to say to people in her life that felt sad or unwanted and she wanted to make them feel loved. So she wrote an essay and read it to the class. At first she was quiet and afraid of saying this. She didn't know if it would be accepted.

 "People are like a train that is going along the track. They may at times feel like they have fallen off the track and lost their way. But there is one who came to love, die, and rise again. He came to show people they are loved, they matter, and there is still a hope for them. He is the loving Shepherd who saves. His name is Jesus. He cares about people and loves them and wants them all to come to Him for help. To put them back on the track, and show them He is the one that wants to lead their life. He is like the light to the lighthouse and shows us what to do. He is the one in the front of the train making sure we don't fall again. He is the one that changes hearts, minds and lives. He is our Lord and Savior and it is Him, who once we come to know Him, holds our hearts in His hands."

 Katie went to sit down, and she was quiet and then she looked around at the class and the other students and in that moment, she saw them as loved by Jesus and she was going to love them all, too.
