A Poem by _rishi_
"

The song of how the peafowl found her voice.

"
Deep in the jungle, heard a melancholic voice,
heads turned, trees squirmed towards the great noise.

There in the distance, sat upon a tree,
sat a peafowl worried, after a dodging spree!

She had shrieked at a predator, screeched at a prey,
surprised by a human and had squealed away.

Her feathers were stuck at odd right angle,
made her look like a sorrowful little sample!

Preens didn’t help,
ruffles didn’t care;
growling and knelt,
a feline appeared!

Wings wide spread,
she yelped away;
landed on another branch,
and sighed away!

As her head bent down when she sighed,
she found her feathers all folded in pride!

Her beak was open in a great awe,
she checked out her feathers from her throat to her claw!

The Queen raised her head up and screamed away,
an elegant song that’s all I say!
