Breaking the conventional

Breaking the conventional

A Poem by Christopher Ross Livingstone

Breaking the conventional By Christopher Ross Livingstone
I heard the conversations of the traditional
Like a set of conventions set in stone by the patriarchal agenda
Influencing power and dominance with a norm and a way to be over me
The traditions are the only way
Follow and conform
Without a question or a thought
Being caught in the convectional only breaks your authenticity
In turn the injustice is the limitation on your expression to be
We're more than carved conventions inscribed by traditions
We are all diverse in richness
Lived in lived experiences and histories

Patriarchy agenda intention is
Norms over forms
Power and mastery
We are on the factory lines of manufactured norms
Instead
I've questioned and challenged
I see the exceptional over the conventional
It's forms over norms
Breaking the conventional is perceiving beyond the traditional
And the one size fits all
