The words we utter

The words we utter

A Poem by Christopher Ross Livingstone

The words we utter

The words we utter
Have meaning and intent
Thinking before the spoken word
Can make the word of difference
Between love and hate

The words we utter
Have power
Speak truth but from kindness
Use them not to bruise but to lift
Others

The words we utter
Have a place in time and space
Why be remembered for division?
When you can be the vision for connection
And healing those divisions

The words we utter
Can be used to touch a life
To raise a soul
Inspire another
Build a bond
And heal a heart

Let's use the words we utter
To lift a life
And give a kiss to life
