Know thyself

Know thyself

A Poem by Christopher Ross Livingstone

Know thyself
A journey
Like no other
Perhaps
the challenging of them all
and all that has been said
and done
the journey was my own
This journey
led me to travel
paths and manes
to the heart
But the challenge
at first
sparked the trigger
to start
of anew
The journey
the one gone
like a lifetime
set apart from the cusp of change
I carried baggage
the weight
deep and vast
without measure
by heart I was afloat
but sinking deep under
sensations
With this journey
I tried
not once upon a time
but many upon a time
to set the time
spark it to change
bit something within
no matter how hard I tried?
the spark sizzled
the magnitude,
of the currents
stopped a heart
form rising
Accepting my journey
you need to sit deep
free with flow
riding the currents
rising along the rapid
going down to the depths
where you feel
the nature
you've been escaping
Knowing thy journey
is knowing thyself
Trigger to behaviours
I was lost in consumption
overeating and oversensing
the overwhelming that drove
a drive to escape
motions
from
the shame
to the
dread of asking why
lost in the crumbs
This journey was mine
mine alone
but still connected
with a community
one of shared hearts
The connection knows no stigma
loves without condition
The journey set me free
sitting at the cusp of change
with an intensity
a fire ready to start
over the cusp
I began
with a love
that brought me to life
out from the depths
Like an opening,
the waters
opened a heart
and from there
I knew myself
I brushed the crumbs away
reclaiming a journey
