In My Mind

A poem I wrote about an experience I had in Iraq.

I’m broken inside

Setting a private war aside

Is not easy to do

When it only

 Revolves around you

People can never look inside

But if they did they would die

The pain intense

Forever invoking fear

And no one will understand

What you have to do

 war rages in my mind

One I’ve taken part in for a time

I will never forget

Or be the same

Things seen are

Scarred in my mind

Dead bodies in a line

After being pulled

From rubble left behind

really great job, it's funny because i named a poem i wrote the same thing. But we wrote completely different things.

I like this part the most it is very nicely detailed right there and is my favorite part in this poem. It's seems like a very intense and sad poem but it pulled me in and i just wanted to read more.

This is an amazing poem, full of intense emotions... I loved the imagery in the last line.. could visualize a painful battlefield and being a lone survivor... enjoyed it very much

[Coyote Poetry]

I understand this poem. My unit had the honor to clean -up Bosnia and Death valley in the first war. I learn what men can to to other human beings. It is scary to realize how human life is value so little in some places. A powerful poem. My father talks to dead friends till his death from the Korea War when drinking. I'm more lucky I just remember them and keep in contact with their kids to remind them how proud their father would of them. A powerful poem. War leave no-one innocence.
