Smirk at Me

Smirk at Me

A Poem by Elliana

You're looking at me and I can see.

You're surveying me and I plea, is it really necessary to judge me?

Now you're walking in circles.

Around me, I see you're eyes again judging me.

Step aside, think to yourself.

Have you summed up who I am yet?

Getting defensive, you realize, it is you, you see in me.

Now step back, think to yourself.

I am judging you right back.

Have you summed yourself up yet?

Amusingly wry. And this poem mirrors (of course) the meaning of a whole song of mine here in the playlist player, as well as posted lyric, "Looking Glass World."

Also, your poem summons up a classic Harpo Marx bit of emulating another lookalike actor's movements so well it appears as antics in a mirror.

This poem should be required reading for all the leaders of persistent antagonisms in the world, a United Nations poster reminder as it were.

Good work!

"Getting defensive, you realize, it is you, you see in me....Have you summed yourself up yet?" I like the way you have flipped the table. It is back on them. So many times when people are emotional close they do not realize that its themselves and there insecurities that are causing them to judge. Good write.
