What then

What then

A Poem by E. Ryan Miller
"

For that heavy feeling in my chest, threatening to explode...

"

Pressure

Pressure from within

Threatening to explode

Eat my soul

Tear me whole

What then?

What if I could find the words

To let off the steam

Find a way out

De-pressure

Break

But what would it prove?

The pressure I hate

It molds me

Blends my soul

Turns the coal to diamonds

Reminds me of my passion

My work

My desire

Pressure

Pressure from within

I remember

This

This is what I want to be

Pressure?

Come what may

This too…

This too shall pass.

Wow! I love this piece of poetry, you really can feel the pressure as you read.
I think what is amazing about this piece is that everyone can relat to it, its not talking about a specific instance of pressure or stress, but it perfectly describes that feeling we have all felt.
Excellent Job!

A re-creation of pressure itself is found in this poem that has great tempo and feeling, I like this piece, it is different.

Maybe we should stop trying to figure out why this pressure is driving us, and instead try to harness it! Medical science proves too that stress is a necessary part of life :) Nice poem, a meditation about pressure.

The last two stanzas I really like. The emotion is evident, the tone earnest. Love how the last two lines were done. Good job.

Oh my. I simply must find out the source of the pressure! Captivating, in a sense. This is the first work of yours I've read, so I can't compare it to much. But the imagination it conjures, thanks in no small part to your flow of imagery, is quite pleasant.
