Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by Rileigh Henson
"

Monsters inside my head

"
I know they are there.
They are in my head.
I can feel them clawing and screaming at me.
They want to be free again,
But I can't let them control me anymore.
They scream at me telling me I should do it again.
"One more line, baby girl"

"One more and everything will be fine"

One more line of cocaine and I'll be happy.
One more shot of heroin and I'll be good for a while.
I can't let them out,
I can't let them be free again.
I won't let them control me,
No matter how loud they scream.
I know they are there,
They are kept locked away where they belong.
No more, just "One more"
No more lines.
No more track marks,
And no more bloody noses.
Just happy little me with monsters inside my head.

Heavyweight topic... Temptation is everyone and everything, but please, don't sign your name on the dotted line of recognizance.

I love this! It reminds me of Ellen Hopkins, have you ever read any of her work? I'm reading Glass right now, just finished Crank. They're pretty good. If you like writing this poetry, I'm sure you'd like reading hers. I like how you wrote a story while making it into free verse...very nice. Keep writing!! =)
