Love your use of metaphor in this wonderful little gem - and the music you chose is perfect for the tone of your words.

...this one has a mesmerizing effect, Dan. I was swaying to the music, then totally absorbed in the "surrealism" of your muse.
I never knew of this collaboration!

The name of the album by Fogelberg and Weisberg was "Twin Sons of Different Mothers." Whole CD is beautiful. They do a cover of the old song, "Tell Me To My Face" that is enchanting. YouTube it, it's great. take care...dan
Dan, I really enjoyed this piece...from the wisdom in the first stanza of moving forward in life, having to adapt because life changes something or takes something away...through the middle stanza where we can sugar coat all the crap as long as we don't spend too much time staring at it...to the final stanza where one longs for the dream to end...if surrealism was your goal then you have nailed it...great pic and love the music!

maybe you can’t forget, oh--
but can you adapt?"
Man you hit the nail on the head with those lines... awesome write and some deep thoughtful truth about life. I loved it Dan!

really good piece...from tribulations of the past, we must learn and then keep riding the bike forward...if we stare too long into the darkness, into what we fear, we will be frozen by the heat of the memories.
