borne for trust (love)

borne for trust (love)

A Poem by dan
"

is trust essential to support a love? is love essential to forming trust?

"

borne for trust (love)

take leave of how they got there, the ones that gladly died,

and don’t, my love, forget just when to cry;

we’ll wash our stained-glass hands

and dab the blood

from both our eyes.

squinting at the muddied skies

that squeezed our love bone dry;

grieving spoke for all those valentines,

mourned the years in which they died…

but now all our future is here for you,

an attempt to fly while staying true.

I didn’t dare know wrong from right,

but traveling now

with clearer sight

I love your gift, I love your light.

recalling when I entered your life, your dark and barren home,

we both stared at the outline that was once so pure and chic

and though we recognized the rust beneath the shiny chrome

we did not yet know how to trust, a trust to shine, unique.

but we now know I found the words that run through our own lives,

the voice we trust, though choked with dust;

the carnage has survived.

to take or not partake again in distant muddled means,

to skip along our pathway to the future

or be truer to the searches found within our simple lives.

we hope to faith that all the “sane” survived,

to say that wisp of trust has now arrived.

but it doesn’t seem to blunt our current dreams;

you know,

those dimly lighted,

nearly-final scenes.

Dan, this is one of your most opulent poems in visual stimuli (and not only...I think all the senses are affected in a certain way). I think mature love that has went through many hard and testing experiences and stripped itself of all ego, learns that love means trusting the other person in full capacity, leaving no room for doubt. And that means loving truly when you are able to be so vulnerable as to trust the other person with your life completely.

You have been on fire lately Dan... another great write you share with us. I have enjoyed the last few poems from you immensely. You find a creative geyser in the back yard? just kidding... (I have been a bit lacking lately.) Anyway, very good job.

Always my friend.
I love the formatting you use here. It's much different than anything I've seen before and it kept me interested in the work throughout the piece. The writing was good as well, the formatting just added to it :) This is also longer than your usual pieces of work and I like that. It has a different feel to it. Very good work Dan, thanks for sharing this with me :)

Dan, you pose great questions here. A lack of trust does not nullify love... I have loved deeply those who have betrayed my trust and in the odd case trust was re-established while the love never wavered. Perhaps the answer to your question is two fold: in a perfect relationship the two must co-exist in order to maintain harmony but in reality they can be independent of one another. I enjoyed this very much.

Heya dan, sorry for the brief absence. This is my last week of college, so I've been busy.

I'm glad to have read this piece, for it was very enjoyable. I absolutely adore the rhyme scheme you have going; it flows beautifully.

I will check out the other poems I've missed shortly. ^-^
