So few words and yet so powerful and meaningful. I loved this, thank you for sharing. I have never read the bible and I'm not that religious so I don't know much on this subject, but every does know this story. My question is...did it really happen on a Friday? Or is that just your addition to add to the power of the poem? Either way, it is a wonderful piece and I'm happy you shared it with me :) Thank you again!

River, According to the bible Christ's crucifixion did happen on a Friday, so that's what I was going by. I am an ex-catholic who grew up in the solemnity of the Easter season, and I was a bit surprised that I hadn't seen any other writes about Good Friday, so I wrote this late Friday night. Three lines, simple message to the open mind and the vulnerable heart. But, you and I and so many others know that those three lines are not simple at all when people do not listen to what grace and salvation mean. What God's promise to his children entails. Thank you for the reminder and the music to close my eyes and praise Him by!

I am glad you liked the write and the accompanying music presentation. I grew up in a religious environment, and even though I have not been as religious in my later years I still honor the solemnity of the Easter season, so a write about Good Friday is something I wrote Friday night. The culmination of the gospels covered in three short and powerful lines; now, that's great poetry. A beautiful senryu to remind us to have faith and to always take the high road. A nice touch with Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' - Buckley does a good job with it. Thanks for sharing, dan.

Thank you, FT. I hadn't seen any other Good Friday writes (I'm sure there were, but none that I saw), so I wrote this late Friday night. I hadn't known that Leonard Cohen wrote the original song; I found this featured on my The West Wing boxed set, played during a scene where a Secret Service agent (played by Mark Harmon) was shot and killed. Ana, The minimalist format is that of a senryu. I really like the format because it challenges the writer to get to the point, express the message desired quickly and briefly. Hard for me because I have trouble with short writes. Thanks so much for the review. take care...dan
