I like how it is so realistic. It really does show the truth; it's so hard not to lie when you already lied, if it's because you don't want to break their heart or because you want to look like you haven't done anything wrong.
This poem is really unique and true.
Keep writing! :D

Yes, lies tend to be self-perpetuating, since more lies are often needed to cover for the first one. Starts rolling down the hill like a bowling ball, never colliding with truth. People often tell lies for their own gain, or to protect themselves.
Others hide their identities because they want to protect themselves from such people.
I've decided the safest thing is just to be me and treat people with respect.

In the pre-digital-age, I would comment on your poem this way:
What you two really need to do is pretend you are both photographers. You then take pictures of each other, without the other knowing; but you then agree to meet in a dark room, and with the proper chemical attractions and reactions, see what develops...just don't say anything negative.

And I'd say, "Yeah? You gotta comment?" Hey, I knew it was a Rawland review when you punned your way into a photography metaphor. Thank you sir! take care...dan
let's pretend we like each other, and who knows, that might end up becoming the truth.

Dan's gone undercover (trench coat and all) to seek the truth in this piece. Well done dan. What is good for the gander is good for the goose and you will indeed unearth the untruths with your lapel lie detector. Because lies are only good if both parties agree to hide them! Well done sir!

Sounds like a "fight of the Roses" Dan. :) Lies and exposing them although, like the poem stated we sometimes wish we could just pretend and fake it, so we could stay next to that person who has already written us off from their life.
The lyrics of the music video match really well with the poem.
Good work my friend!

Let me say straight off Dan - love that image - Spy vs Spy is brilliant.
The 'Oh yeahs' make me think this is a song. Its very lyrical even if its purely a poem.
It would make a great song.
We want to believe some lies because if we accept them as truth then our world could implode.
Reminded me of 'Tell me sweet little lies' - was that Stevie Nicks?
Good one Dan my friend. :)

Yes that was Stevie (first name basis you know) but she never sang a hip-hop song as far as I know. I used to be in a band and we would record songs that I had written (and when I say record I mean on a tape recorder) so I always desired to be a songwriter. So yes, this was written as a sort-of song. And to tell the truth, if Stevie wants to use it she can just give me 10% of royalties...that's fair, isn't it? take care...dan
