Tea For One

this came to me when I saw a vanity plate go by one day...

 

I'll wait no more for romance.

It isn't worth the price.

I'll sell my soul for no one,

despite the world's advice.

 

And you may think me lonely,

as I sit at tea for one,

but I wrap myself in satin,

and I cater to no one.

 

Sometimes I'll take a lover

should I feel the need for spice

but I'll give my key to no one

for Love rolls loaded dice.

 

And when the world winds down at last

and I decide that will suffice,

I'll sleep in peaceful silence,

my heart encased in ice...

(may possibly become a song someday, with the second stanza as chorus...)

Anyway, very beautiful & you are correct, it could easily be a song..and the
second stanza would be great in repetition. But it also stands on its own as a poem.

It's very well-written, Rie. Being the optimistic romantic that I am, however, I must believe there is someone for everyone in this world. It has been my experience that it never seems to happen when you want it too, though.
