Memories of the past

Boy's point of view

As I walk down the street
Wandering around
I wait for someone
To hold on and be with

Then I met this girl
She's simple and very loving
I asked myself
"Is she's the one?"

We hanged out each other everyday
We're happy
And enjoying our friendship
Those days are the best

But, days passed
And something happened to our relationship
She started to go away from my side
And I never talked to her again

I really miss her
Her smile, her laughter
Even though she is near
I can't be with her anymore

Now, I'm so scared
So scared that now she's gone
I don't have any strength
Or smile I can show

And today,
I realize that she's only a part of my memories
My memories in the past
That I can't return back

Memories of the past...
I once had a friend. He and I shared the same interests. He was always there for me when I needed him. We would talk for hours on the phone and we talked about our dreams and what we wanted with our lives. He soon became my best friend. When everybody started to turn against me, he remained faithful to me. He never left my side.
One day, I heard that he was moving away to a new school. I almost cried. Several nights of tears passed. Soon, I realized that since he put my happiness first, I should also put his happiness first.
He still calls me on the phone. It's a sad story of friendship. But that's life, right? Someday, I will find a friend like him. Someday, I will find a friend who will defend me. Someday, I will find a friend who will stand by my side and remain faithful to me.

This is a wonderful poem. Simple yet meaningful in many ways.

I see both friendship and love in this poem. It doesn't focus on love alone, from my point of view. I had a friend who left me. I had a crush who destroyed me and left me in pieces. Yeah, memories of the past...
