this was inspired when I went to an arcade/bowling/movie place and there was a kid crying because he couldn't have any more popcorn.

our senses have been dulled by extremes and joy
we seek to be happy and find sadness and we are satisfied
are we being lulled into a world where we seek the good and not the bad
where we only want to feel happiness and not sadness
our appetite for fun and excitement can not be appeased
and what will we do to appease it?
have gladiators like the Romans and put other peoples life at risk for our enjoyment
No
 but it could come to it.

. wow ... this is very well written and i really like the point you make here ... indeed we're ill prepared to deal with challenging situations ... i think the education system needs a lot of revamping to prepare us ... as it is meant to ... to cope with life better ... (but i do think it's okay for a kid to demand some more pop corn, but maybe crying was a bit much) ...

interesting..we have so much in our society, technology has given way to a spectrum of entertainment..yet I hear much more now than before kids saying I'm bored..Is it because we are so used to getting that the simple pleasures are no longer appreciated or even seen as pleasures..given a spinning top of a child who has nothing and they will marvel at it...modern folk have advanced to far to appreciate it..(this includes adults to)..you made me think and thats a good thing ..great write.
