The Thinkable - Hope InauguratedA Poem by Antonio Valentino
They said it wasn’t possible
To stand upon a moon
Sometimes the stakes are highest
When the sun is high at noon
They say that if you build it
That the people all will come
You cannot reach the promise
Till the first step though is done
We have so many scars
It’s very hard for them to heal
We have so many closets
Where the ghosts in them are real
We say that we are equal
But then those are only words
It’s hard to build a future
When your vision becomes blurred
The skies of late have darkened
But the shift is in the wind
The faith of all the people
Is not something you rescind
Maybe we can all stand up
And finally get this right
Never will we quit and simply
Perish in the night
We need this resurrection
If we all are too succeed
An oath of affirmation
Of our duties and our needs
We’re all in this together
Every right and every wrong
This nation is a family
To which all of us belong
If only we could just embrace
Each other as our own
This land of purple majesty
Where bravery calls its home
So many lives surrendered
In the blood of basic rights
How many more must vanish
Before all of us unite
Sometimes we cannot look at life
As simply black and white
The color of humanity,
A spectrum of delight
Let’s pray this day can bring us
All a sense of hope anew
Sometimes the most unthinkable
of dreams, can still come true
Barrack On Everyone.
Barrack On!
Bless us all.
