If

If I ever leave you
in this world all by yourself
I hope that you will read this poem
I kept high on a shelf

If I can never touch your face
or hear your lovely voice
I hope your path is always filled
with happiness and joy

I tried so hard to find the words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How much I always cared for you
in everything you did
I wish I told you more of all
the feelings that I hid

I’m sorry for the times I ever
caused you to be stressed
With all the love I felt from you
I know that I was blessed

I hope you know the problems
that we had were all my own
I’m sorry living with me
made you sometimes feel alone

I want for you to know that
when you need me I’ll be there
It doesn’t matter if you’re happy
or if you are your scared

Just know that I am holding you
whenever you have fear
And that I’ll always be there
every time you cry a tear

I wish I could have bottled up
your laughter in a vial
I’d pour it out into the wind
and make the whole world smile

I wish that I could find the color
trapped within your eyes
I’d toss it up into the air
and paint a whole new sky

I wish I would have captured your
illuminating glow
The effervescence of your smile
could lift those feeling low

I hope that you can find someone
who makes your spirit free
I hope that they take care of you
And love you just like me

Just know each time you stop to hold
And smell a pretty rose
That I may just be getting close
So I can kiss your nose

And when you see the clouds above
release their saddened tears
It’s just that I am missing you
and wishing you were near

I tried to find some special words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How truly I adore and worship
everything you do
If I could only find the words,
I’d give them all to you

You know, it has occurred to me that you must be a chick magnet with the way your write. What women wouldn't swone over words like:

"I'm sorry for the times I ever
caused you to be stressed
With all the love I felt from you
I know that I was blessed"

and

"Just know each time you stop to hold
And smell a pretty rose
That I may just be getting close
So I can kiss your nose"

The words every woman wants to hear, but never seems to.

Love this as always. Into my library you go little poem.

This flowed so smoothly and beautifully. It's adorable and sweet and everything else.
" And when you see the clouds above
release their saddened tears
It’s just that I am missing you
and wishing you were near"

I love those lines. Great job.

This writing is totally alluring to most any woman's inner-desires. Very smooth.. very casanova! There are too many stanzas here I like to pick a favorite .. whomever it was written towards is truly lucky.. especially if you mean the words deeply and it's not just creative. (Felt real to me as I read) This was really and truthfully fantastic.. it took my breath away!

This is adorable. The fact that one wouldn't be there to say such words to one's face is so sad, so I guess the best way would be by leaving such a loving poem to one's partner.
The story here tells of a perfect love story and not being around any more, so by leaving these beautiful words behind, you would always be joined together by the love they produce.

Very moving,
Thanks for sharing

This poem is absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word! I could feel the love trickle down from one stanza to the next. The gentle flow of your soft spoken words simply melted my heart. The lady in your life is quite fortunate. What more can be said of this heartfelt expression of your passion toward her? I leave you with my favorite stanzas:

" I wish I could have bottled up - your laughter in a vial - I'd pour it out into the wind - and make the whole world smile"

"I wish that I could find the color - trapped within your eyes - I'd toss it up into the air - and paint a whole new sky"

"Just know each time you stop to hold - And smell a pretty rose - That I may just be getting close - So I can kiss your nose"

"And when you see the clouds above - release their saddened tears - It's just that I am missing you - and wishing you were near"

And if that wasn't enough, your ending finished me off:

"How truly I adore and worship - everything you do - If I could only find the words, I'd give them all to you"

~ A lovely, lovely piece of poetry~
