Baltimore Maryland Rain

Baltimore Maryland Rain

A Poem by Richard Lane

a good omen

today came to me as i looked

from the porch of my home

and noticed that the two

rose bushes

growing behind my house

less than an hour,

before the

thunderstorms and

the tornados

that had been  predicted to touch down

without sounding or looking

like a typical F1 to  F15 monster

the capacity to cloak itself

behind the rain which mean't that

anyone expecting to a hear

freight train and not even a tornado

watcher would be able to

see the tornado

or the tell tale sign of the impending

disaster beginning with the curved

tail of the cloud

Storms are always such beautiful inspiration. I feel like this piece would make an excellent starting point to a story. The images are painted with clarity and even though it reads more like prose than a typical poem, the poetry within the piece is evident. Nicely done.

Tornados are very fascinating. It can take your breath away, and your life too...within a moments glance your world could change forever. You have written a lovely imagery of what could have been painted as a stormy disaster...Nice write.
