A Poem by Richard Lane

anytime and anyday you want

you can bend my ears

and i will never stop you,

my friend and

you can make the choice whether

to sing or speak to me in the voice you were given

because a spoken voice can be as uplifting as a singing voice and you wouldn't have to

worry about what parts of your past and present life will be too

much for me to hear and feel as you sit across from me

on that picnic table asking yourself if I'll

laugh at you for daring to daydream

even when the sunshine is

setting by 4:30 pm

because i have felt, heard and i've done so many things

and right now

all i want to do is hear the hum of your voice

as you tell the story

of your life

and

i really would like

to hear

all of those parts so don't hold back my friend,

now go on and shout and sing your

story to me as loud or as soft or  as often as you wish.and i will keep listening and reading  and of course writing back to you as always
