Who Needs Glass Slippers?

Who Needs Glass Slippers?

A Poem by Richard Lane

who needs glass slippers
when a pair of tennis shoes can look
just as spectacular on the
gorgeous person wearing them
and at least the shoes
won't slip off as easily
as those glass slippers
that are prone to breaking
before you even make it
home after the clock
strikes midnight on November 1st

i like this because that is pretty much all i wear...Tennis shoes...i feel pretty awkward in anything else. I also play a lot of tennis, and this got me imagining running around the court in glass slippers.

i could see myself shattering a shoe at exactly the same time i broke a string on my racquet.

now on the serious side...a part of me loves this...the whole dress up thing, the formal attire...i don't go for it..i am more of a comfortable person...i teach English at two community colleges and am very casual when i teach, as far as dress.

the students seem very comfortable with me...i hop around the room, sit on the front of the desk...don't like being formally dressed or standing behind the desk. creates distance.

sorry to ramble, but this poem is so good, can be approached from several directions.

love it.

Lovely. It reminds me so much of Cinderella. ^^* But I read a deeper meaning than anything that cartoon has to offer. There is depth here and many people will just take it at face value but I see much deeper than that.
