4:35 Train

4:35 Train

A Poem by Richard Lane

i was heading for

the streets of gold only to be stopped by the haze

of the glowing lights

taking me

from the grocery list of food i was supposed to buy

when i remembered

the whispers

of an old

friend i saw in that dream

last night who said it's

lovely to see you again

and then

embraced me before they disappeared and then i

woke up again this morning

to wipe the dust from my

eyes to get ready for another

hard day of living in the so-called

real world
