On The Dance Floor Somewhere

On The Dance Floor Somewhere

A Poem by Richard Lane

somewhere on the dancefloor

you may find some peace of mind

in  the northwest center of your heart

as you move about

in your

journey through life

hoping for

as little disruption of the peaceful world

you've always

dreamed of

when you dare to dance even when

your legs no longer have the

strength

to keep up with the rhythms of darkwave,

and new wave

and old school hip

hop that you looked upon as the life saver,

that brought you

out of your shell in the days

when you were young

and wondering

what direction your life will

take you

through into your 80th year as

the saints and the faeries

will allow you

to go

but when you get the feeling of joy in

the dancing that you

do when  you

dance and when either a woman or a man

asks you to dance

even when

the chance of being kissed on the lips isn't

guaranteed

it is you who must accept

the gesture,

because you never  can tell when a special

moment like

having a dance

with another beautiful human will ever happen again
