Caregiver
A Story by Richard Lane
I am the Caregiver of a Father with MS. It was diagnosed with MS in 1982. His MS went in remission for twenty years and came out of remission in 2003. My Father asked me if I would take a hiatus from work in order to help him during the recovery process following a biopsy for lung cancer and the complications that followed the surgery took a huge toll on my Father who does not like to ask for help because he is an independent type and a rebel who once drove his jeep back to his US Airforce base following a night of drinking Absynthe in Paris, France in 1953. Just to be even clearer most of my Family members are Nurses, Caregivers and Midwives. I've worked in Hospitals and in 1985 I was taught how to do range motion therapy when I worked for a Hospital for the Mentally Disabled. My writing comes from real life things and I write them out. I am a story writer both of Fiction and Non Fiction. I would think my story is peculiar too if I wasn't really doing what I am doing which is not pretty. I decided to drink tea instead of coffee a few minutes after I wrote that. Thank you for reading folks. |
