She Sang like Pat BenatarA Poem by Richard Lane
i swear i could feel my heart melting all the way to floor
as she played "hit me with your best shot" on the piano and when she started singing like pat benatar i didn't care how much my heart was aching, because after all i was 18 and she was 19 and the feeling of my heart aching mean't i was alive and no matter how much alcohol was in me, i knew the feelings i was feeling were as real as the chocolate cake i was eating and the only thought in my mind was how beautiful she looked that night twenty five years ago
