Dancing With Zelda

Dancing With Zelda

A Story by Richard Lane
"

a nod to the Owl Bar and the Belvedere on North Charles street in Baltimore, Maryland.

"

It wasn't until about 3:30 am that I finally walked out of the Owl Bar in order to keep my promise to my friend Jennifer that I would escort her apartment house near 1100 North Charles street. But I had to use the restroom on the lobby floor and about sometime after I left the restroom I managed to glance into the ballroom where the 1912 Democratic Convention took place and that's when I noticed a woman in what looked to be a dress from the 1920's. But I thought nothing of the outfit but maybe the woman was enjoy one last dance of the night without a partner. However it wasn't until I walked closer and closer toward the woman that I began to hear the music she was dancing too and before I could ask the question whether I was just dreaming or crazy or drunk or all three the lady smiled and said "my name is Zelda would you like to dance with me?"

Hey, this doesn't seem to be finished, but I've still enjoyed it. Before it became literal time-travel, I thought it was more just someone who's mindset was so out-of-place that it was like they were back in time. This has given me some feeling and imagery I might exploit myself, and I must express my gratitude for that.
