the internet goes blank

the internet goes blank

A Poem by Richard Lane
"

just a take on the up coming supposed virus. i'll be going to bed in a few minutes anyway but i couldn't resist writing a poem with the line of the possible threat as a title.

"
in 1984 my typing teacher got mad when i used a pencil
eraser instead of correcting fluid when i realized the word eyes doesn't have two y's
or s's in them and the type writer i was using had one of those ribbons that you had to re-thread by hand.

Author's Note

Richard Lane
I have been experimenting with the form of writing above since the early 1990's when used to be afraid of writer's blocks. Of course I will add more to the work above but I am glad to be able to share this early stage of the poem as it was just written less than a few minutes ago. I look forward to your input.

I like short form stuff - have you ever heard of a 'drabble'? It's a 100 word story (you can include the title in the word count if you want to go for extra brevity). I am thinking you might be able to write some good ones. (Modesty prevents me from mentioning I've written some myself, which you can read on my profile... whoops).

freeflow.. i like the ballsyness of the approach. when i go for it... i reread and snip out the relevant bits and piece them into something flowy. it's a beautiful practice.. more like a conversation with your in-the-moment truth. have fun with it -- go deeper!
ps. i wouldn't stress about the bug. although, a typewriter for it's own sake.. might be fun to break out simply for the nostalgia of it. : )

Actually this reminded me when I was younger and first starting using a manual typewriter. It was such a old and clunky thing and then I got a electric typewriter and that thing was so much easier. O_O Dear god I feel old now, but anyway...in my later years...since I am a old grandma...^^* (insert laugh here) ...computers are so much better for me.

This is a scary thought! Where would we be without the internet!...Typewriters are almost non-existent...aren't they? lol

Yes the whole internet could crash any minute and then where would we be?....a lot better off I expect. How many times have you walked into the front room and the person in there has said "I'm not really watching this" (refering to the TV), which begs the question, Why is the TV on in the first place?? This type of subject prompted me to write 'The Morris men versus the Internet' which will last longer?
