Judgement Bridge

Judgement Bridge

A Poem by Rich Allo
"

Everybody will come to face "judgement bridge" at some point during their existence. What matters is the decisions they make.

"

Sometimes it takes a leap of faith,

Sometimes you blow out every wraith,

Sometimes you find every fickle need,

Is a pure necessity, indeed,

When terror’s standing on its head,

It shatters bodies with its tread,

You’re a rabbit in the headlights,

The foreign face,

At this fork in the road,

Between a rock and hard place,

Are the crocs below you now?

They’ll roll with you if you let them,

And the rickety suspension’s round your neck!

Are the skies rolling thunder bolts?

Are the cliff faces united in cults?

Don’t lose your marbles,

You’re doing fine,

At judgement bridge, you seem to shine,

Sometimes it takes a little more,

Shuffle both your feet along the floor,

Inhale the courage from the air,

All nerves are normal, a little scare

Shall do you good,

When crossroads stare you in the face,

You’ve nowhere to go, you’re out of place,

You’re a rebel without cause,

Are the lightening bolts striking all around?

And the hurricanes blowing to the ground?

Let the bats out the belfry,

Shoo the pigeons from your attic banks,

At judgement bridge, give your thanks,

Knowledge comes with a single attempt,

Terror comes without a single attempt,

You must try now,

Cos’ if you don’t you’ll never know!

The choice is yours to cross judgement bridge,

Confidence is key, you won’t succeed with a smidge,

Yet if you come to find a challenge ahead,

Then the point of crossing was to beat it to bed,

Put it to sleep and charge your way past,

Any fears or terrors will come to pass,

Because nothing can take your feelings away,

Cos’ only you feel it and never shall they.

And I know, dear friend, if you fail to cross,

If you take a step back, trembled in a fuss,

Then you’ll never know,

Because you've never tried,

What’s the point of knowing

If you refuse to stride?

And if you fall and find yourself crying amore,

Then at least you’ll know there’s something you’re crying for.
