Love Is Such A Strong WordA Poem by Rich AlloAn emotional lyric poem examining the intensity of love. How far will a man go to chase a woman he cannot be with?I’m simply shredded from the journey I have been, My heart is ripped of all the pride that I was keen, I’m just too faraway, That I cannot seem to make a happy scene, I feel like crying every time I hear you speak, And I get paranoid every time my door will creak, Your secrets to think about, And my world is crying out, as tears leak, Love is such a strong word, There’s no other of its kind, It’s born within a heartbeat, And with pulses it unwinds, And with pain it grows such stronger, And be sure to terrify, Love is such a strong word, All the time, I see your pictures on the wall I used to read, Yet it seems like keeping out is stopped by greed, See, I cannot stand alone, For I’ll pursue you on my own until you’re caught, We're just the creatures of the world we seem to lead, And we challenge every law of every creed, Do not cry or I’ll cry with you, Do not turn away and run, too, you’re all I need, Love is such a strong word, And how death is awful vile, It can draw the breathing spaces, Out the doors of all our lives, And every wish and every way, Of all our lives to tend, Love is such a strong word, Though a friend, Love is such a strong word, It can paint a bleeding sky, Yeah, it works the cogs of hatred, And such courage all to find, And those who gave, And those who stole, Can’t exceed the fateful trend, Love is such a strong word, At the end. © 2015 Rich Allo |
