Episode 11

 

(We are in the lobby of the hospital. Juan, Sarai, and Taylor are all outside the room with Allye and Santino in the hospital room. Athens then comes rushing in and finds Juan.)

 

Athens

Juan it’s all over the news what the hell is going on?

 

Juan

Emilio’s dead.

 

Athens

How the hell did this happen?

 

Juan

He was hit by a car, they say hit and run.

 

Santino

(coming out of the room) Juan?

 

Juan

(walking over to Santino) Yes?

 

Santino

I’ve taken Sarai and Alexandria down to the morgue to see the body, and you are considered the Power of Attorney over Emilio.

 

Juan

I need you to get the body to the funeral home and have it be prepared for the service.

 

Santino

Ok, and the police are here speaking with the witnesses do you care to join?

 

Juan

I will momentarily

 

(Santino leaves and Athens and Juan are left in the lobby)

 

Athens

If it’s just a hit and run then there isn’t much they can do is there?

 

Juan

Probably not

 

(We then cut to Mallory’s apartment, she’s just waking up and has a horrible hangover. She gets up and stumbles over to the counter and grabs a bottle of Jack and takes a big drink and drops it. At that moment Santino busts into the room)

 

Santino

Where the hell were you last night?

 

Mallory

(slurred) I….I was at a little gathering with friends

 

Santino

How did you get home?!

 

Mallory

I waited for a cab…but it took too long so I drove home myself.

 

Santino

Did you drive by The Coffeehouse?

 

Mallory

I…I think so why?

 

Santino

(pulling out her business card he found at the crash) This was found near the body of a man who was ran over outside of The Coffeehouse, he died this morning

 

(Mallory picks up the card and stares at it, then her eyes widen)

 

(Fade out)

Scene 2

(We’re in Zahar’s office and she is going over files for a new merger. Juan suddenly walks into the office)

 

Zahar

Can’t you knock?

 

Juan

I have some big news

 

Zahar

If it doesn’t concern me then I don’t wanna hear it

 

Juan

Oh it does.

 

Zahar

What could you possibly do that involves me?

 

Juan

You are changing offices

 

Zahar

Excuse me? I am perfectly fine where I’m at.

 

Juan

You are the new head of Public Relations

 

(we cut to Santino and Malory)

 

Santino

You killed someone!

 

Malory

No one can find out about this!

 

Santino

No one will, but you are going into a rehab facility immediately.

 

Malory

Fine I’ll do whatever it takes. He’s really dead?

 

Santino

Yes

 

Malory

(tearing up) Who was it?

 

Santino

Emilio Esperanza

 

Malory

Oh…my…God!

 

Santino

It’s ok it’s ok.

 

Malory

No it isn’t! Don’t you know who his brother is?

 

Santino

Who Jose?

Malory

No! Juan!

 

Santino

Yes what about Juan?

 

Malory

He’s one of the most powerful men in Houston.

 

(Fade out)

 

Scene 3

(We’re back with Zahar and Juan)

 

Zahar

Is this some kind of stupid, tasteless joke?

 

Juan

No, I am promoting you to head of public relations

 

Zahar

I’m supposed to believe that Emilio is just leaving and you’re giving me this position out of your good graces?

 

Juan

(stiffens) Emilio is dead

 

Zahar

(shocked) What?

 

Juan

He was ran over, he died earlier this morning, so that’s your first job as head of PR is to break the news of his death and then promote the new merger to the public.

 

(Juan then leaves and Zahar stands from her chair and stares down at her desk)

 

Zahar

Me…I am the new Head of Public Relations…me!

 

(we then cut to the lobby of the hospital and Nadia comes limping in)

 

Nurse

Can I help you?

 

Nadia

Yes I have an appointment with Dr. Garner

 

Nurse

(checks on computer) Ms. Inserni?

 

Nadia

Yes

 

Nurse

The doctor will be with you shortly

 

(Nadia limps over to the chairs and sits down and takes off her shoe and sees her foot extremely swollen, we then cut to Allye and Sarai coming from downstairs both crying)

 

Sarai

We need to call the office and see what files are left over from your father’s office and get the ones from home as well.

 

(Allye is dead quiet as they sit in the lobby)

 

Sarai

Mija are you ok?

 

Allye

I just want to go home

 

(At that moment Taylor walks in with two cups of coffee)

 

Taylor

Mrs. Esperanza I brought some coffee for you and Allye.

 

Sarai

Thank you sweetheart

 

Allye

No, I don’t want any

 

Taylor

Allye can I get you anything?

 

Allye

Unless you can find a way to take me back to a time when I had both my parents don’t ask me if you can get me anything!

 

 

Sarai

Alexandria Esperanza!

 

Taylor

No Mrs. Esperanza it’s ok. She’s just hurt

 

(Taylor sits next to Allye and puts her arm around her, but Allye pushes her off and walks away)

 

Sarai

I’m worried about her, I don’t know how we can help her. She just lost both of her parents.

 

(Juan walks into the lobby and Allye rushes past him)

 

Sarai

Juan, have you been to the office?

 

Juan

Yes, I let the entire department know what happened, I appointed the new head and now they’re working on breaking the news to stock holders and the media.

 

Sarai

I suppose Roger will be taking over the department?

 

Juan

No

 

Sarai

But he was second to Emilio, who could you put in charge?

 

Juan

I put Zahar mother, she’s our new Head of Public Relations

 

(Sarai’s jaw drops)

 

(Fade out)

 

Scene 4

(We’re back with Sarai and Juan)

 

Sarai

Juan what the hell are you thinking?!

 

Juan

I know what you’re going to say, but she’s the most qualified for the position.

 

 

Sarai

In case you forgot we’re trying to get rid of her!

 

Juan

Well it looks like we’re going to keep her on board for a while until we can get rid of her, but until then she’s our new head of PR.

 

Sarai

Not without my approval she’s not!

 

Juan

I made the decision it is final. You may be CEO but when it comes to hiring and promotions those are under my jurisdiction as COO!

 

(Sarai and Juan stare each other down, we cut to inside a patient’s room and Nadia is sitting on the chair with her foot propped up Denzel then enters the room with an x-ray)

 

Denzel

Well I got your x-ray

 

Nadia

Well what’s wrong?

 

Denzel

You have a very high level ankle sprain, because of extensive tension on your foot.

 

Nadia

What does that mean?

 

Denzel

It means that if you continue doing this you could possibly damage your leg to the point where you won’t be able to dance again

 

Nadia

No you don’t understand I have the Exhibition this weekend. All of Houston is going to be there I can’t just stop!

 

Denzel

Nadia if you don’t stop you’re going to damage your foot

 

Nadia

Just give me something! Anything to hold this injury off until after the Exhibition

 

(we then cut to the lobby with Zahar and Raquel walking out of her office)

 

Zahar

I don’t understand why Juan would give me this position

 

Raquel

It does seem strange, but at the same time he’s not stupid

 

Zahar

How so?

 

Raquel

You’re one of the best marketing agents in the state; do you really think he’s going to pass up an opportunity to get the most out of you while he’s trying to get you out of the company?

 

Zahar

Well I’m pretty sure he’s going to be busy handling the arrangements for the funeral

 

Raquel

Funeral?

 

Zahar

Oh I forgot to tell you Emilio died

 

Raquel

What?!

 

Zahar

Yeah they’re at the hospital right now

 

(Raquel then just starts running out of the building leaving Zahar behind, we then cut to Sarai, Juan, and Athens)

 

Sarai

You are insane if you think I’m going to give her an executive position like that!

 

Juan

I have given it to her…end of story

 

Athens

Juan if you’re trying to get rid of her then why are you giving her such a powerful position?

 

Juan

Because I want it that way now can we just drop it!

 

(Juan walks out and leaves Sarai and Athens alone in the lobby)

 

Sarai

He isn’t in his right mind, I want you to go back to the office and reverse this promotion. With God as my witness Zahar Rodriguez will not ever be an executive at Esperanza Enterprises

 

(Fade out)
