Scene 1

(We pick up with Taylor and Sarai in Emilio’s apartment)

 

Emilio

No, no I don’t believe this

 

Allye

Grandma this can’t be true

 

Sarai

I have the test right here (holds up folder)

 

Taylor

Wait, wait you and Zahar hate each other, this is just some trick to get back at her for gaining your company

 

Emilio

I agree with Taylor, you’re upset that Zahar got a piece of the company and now you’re trying to get revenge

 

Sarai

(opening the folder) Mira!

 

(Emilio takes the folder and reads it, then reads it again)

 

Emilio

It’s true. Zahar is Taylor’s mother

 

(Taylor grabs the paper and reads it, then widens her eyes, we cut to The Coffeehouse and Santino is getting his drink, Zahar walks in and sees him and bumps into him while walking by)

 

Zahar

Oh I’m so sor-

 

Santino

Hey, um Zahar right?

 

Zahar

Yes, um Santino?

 

Santino

That’s right, how are you?

 

 

Zahar

I’m doing great I actually have been wanting to see you again

 

Santino

(blushes) Well, that’s a sweet thing to say about someone you just met.

 

Zahar

Oh forgive me if I’m being forward, but I would like to get together to talk about Sinai Industries becoming a sponsor for St. Thomas.

 

Santino

Well that would be great, when would you like to set up a meeting?

 

Zahar

 I was hoping it could be a little more….intimate.

 

Santino

I’m sorry?

 

Zahar

I was thinking dinner possibly?

 

(Santino looks at her surprisingly)

 

(Fade out)

 

Scene 2

(We’re with Raquel in her office going over files from both Sinai Industries and Esperanza Enterprises the door opens and in walks Juan)

 

Raquel

Yes what do you need?

 

Juan

I came to see how you were doing, is that a crime?

 

Raquel

We know you’re not here for that now what do you want?

 

Juan

As you know by now I don’t want Zahar anywhere near my business or in this town for that matter, so I have a plan to get her out and I want something from you

 

Raquel

What do I have that could help you get rid of her?

 

Juan

You’ve been noticing someone has been buying up Sinai Industries stock?

 

Raquel

Yes some independent buyer has-

 

(she stops and looks at him)

 

Raquel

It’s you isn’t it?

 

(Juan looks at her then stands up)

 

Juan

I need your stock from the company

 

(Raquel’s eyes widen, we cut to Emilio’s apartment and Taylor is reading the test over and over)

 

Sarai

Taylor, I know that my history with Zahar isn’t exactly the best and I know I’ve done some horrible things to her, but this isn’t a way to get back at her and I’m not gonna lie this is something that I could use against her, but this also concerns you and I will not, absolutely not, gain on something that could hurt you

 

Taylor

(sets down the test) How did you even get DNA from me?

 

Sarai

That day you met me at the school I saw that you left your jacket in the classroom, and I was able to find out it was yours and I took a hair that I found on it and I got Zahar’s from a coke can she left in her office

 

Taylor

I can’t believe this is happening, but what am I gonna do?

 

Allye

Are you going to talk her?

 

Emilio

It can’t be easy finally seeing your birth mother after all of this

 

Taylor

I will go to her, and I’ll find out if this is true

 

(Taylor then walks away into a room while Sarai, Emilio, and Allye stay in the room)

 

Emilio

Ama, is this necessarily a good idea?

 

Sarai

That little girl should know who her birth mother is, but I’m not gonna lie I can’t wait to see Zahar’s face when she realizes that her abandoned daughter has returned

 

(Emilio shakes his head and sits down, we then cut to Santino and Zahar)

 

Santino

Dinner?

 

Zahar

I hope I’m not being too forward, but I would also like to get to know you better also

 

Santino

Like a date?

 

Zahar

Technically yes

 

Santino

I have nothing on my schedule so I accept your request

 

Zahar

Great, I’ll be ready at 8

 

Santino

Wait tonight?

 

Zahar

You don’t expect me to wait do you?

 

(Zahar leaves and Santino laughs to himself and leaves right behind her)

 

(Fade out)

Scene 3

(We’re back in Raquel’s office)

 

Raquel

What in your right mind would make you think I would even consider giving up my Sinai Industries stock?!

 

Juan

I know this must be difficult for you, but I wouldn’t ask you if I absolutely had another way

Raquel

No! No no no! You can’t expect me to turn on Zahar like that

 

Juan

Raquel, you know what she did was wrong and now I want her out, if I can get enough stock I can merge the companies and then we can push her out and make her stock amount little to nothing

 

Raquel

I know what she did was wrong, but I didn’t help her get your company and if you must remember I warned you she was at the courthouse

 

Juan

And I’m grateful, but I need this so bad, you have no idea what this is doing to me!

 

Raquel

If you stand here and give me a good enough reason on why we can’t be together, if you tell me the truth flat out, I will give you the stock

 

(Juan stiffens up, then suddenly leaves her office, we cut to Emilio’s apartment)

 

Allye

I think that this is too much for her right now

 

Sarai

Well I had to tell her the truth, but I didn’t expect her to be here

 

Allye

Well her foster mom kicked her out, she’s pregnant and wants to have an abortion

 

Sarai

(bows her head) Dios mio

 

Emilio

I’m worried that Zahar probably will deny it and then this girl will have nothing

 

Allye

Dad she needs our help, I wanna be there for her

 

Emilio

I think we should

 

Sarai

I’ll take her in, and help her with the baby situation

 

 

Allye

But she wants an abortion Grandma

 

Sarai

I think that in due time she will be change her mind, but until then she must meet her mother

 

(Taylor returns out of the room and has her purse in hand)

 

Taylor

I want to go see her

 

Sarai

I would have to see where she’s at and then we can go

 

Taylor

I know where she’s at, she’ll be in her office at Esperanza Enterprises

 

(Sarai nods and starts to head towards the door with Taylor right behind her)

 

(Fade out)

Scene 4

(Juan bursts into his office and goes behind his desk and pulls out a folder with reciepts of his buying of Sinai Industries stock, Raquel suddenly walks in behind him and closes the door)

 

Raquel

You can’t do it can you?

 

Juan

You’re acting like a child Raquel, if you didn’t want me to have the stock then just say so, don’t try to get my feelings involved

 

Raquel

What makes it so hard for you to say it?

 

Juan

Don’t start with that again (he picks up the folder then Raquel grabs it out of his hands and throws it)

 

Raquel

NO! No business, don’t try to hide behind your work tell me! Tell me to my face why we can’t be together!

 

 

 

 

Juan

(calmly sits behind his desk) What do you want me to tell you? That I’m afraid of the fact that once I let you in you’ll leave me? Or, lets go with that if it doesn’t work out I could potentially lose you. You will never hear me admit fear ever Raquel but when it comes to you I’m scared out of my mind. Love doesn’t work the way you want it to and in our case I could lose one of the greatest things that could ever happen to me, and I’d rather keep you as my business associate than lose you.

 

(Raquel grabs his hand)

 

Raquel

If you let me in, I won’t ever leave

 

Juan

Don’t lie, if someone came along that knows how to express his feelings and can give you everything you ever wanted you would leave

 

(he gets up and goes around his desk)

 

Raquel

Juan, you know where my loyalties lie, with you. Just tell me you love me, just say it and I’ll let this go, all I need is to hear it

 

(Juan turns to her and looks her in her eyes)

 

Juan

I can’t

 

(Raquel’s eyes then fill with tears and she tries to pull away but he pulls her in and puts his arms around her as she softly cries in his arms, we then cut to Zahar’s office as she is wearing a very nice blouse and mini skirt and she is putting folders away when Sarai walks in)

 

Zahar

(turns around) What do you want?

 

Sarai

Came by to see if you were enjoying this new office space you have in my building

 

Zahar

Well I’m enjoying it quite a lot, especially with me having such an impact with the company you built

 

Sarai

Well I actually came because I was curious about something, did you ever at anytime in your life think of having children?

 

Zahar

Well I almost did have one but you found that out didn’t you?

 

Sarai

Now Zahar I mean a real child, you know like those teenage girls are doing nowadays on tv.

 

Zahar

Those little girls don’t know how to keep their legs closed and it gets them in trouble and a reality show

 

Sarai

You seem so stern on that subject, why?

 

Zahar

Teenage girls should focus more on their future not the current person they’re seeing, wait why is this so interesting to you?

 

Sarai

You see I just met this young lady today, Taylor can you come in?

 

(Taylor comes in and looks right at Zahar and Zahar’s eyes widen and she falls back)

 

Sarai

Taylor I’d like you to meet Zahar Rodriguez, Zahar this is Taylor Garner and I must say she does strike a resemblence to me, oh wait that’s right….you.

 

Zahar

No-no no no this isn’t happening

 

Sarai

Zahar, what’s wrong you act like you’ve seen a ghost.

 

Zahar

It can’t be! I let her go!

 

Taylor

Zahar, I’m your daughter

 

(Zahar then drops into her chair and covers her face with her hands)

 

(Fade out)
