Climb

Climb

A Poem by Mariah Lynn Thompson

The Mountain stands before me now
I know I need to climb it, but how?
I haven't any rope, I haven't any food
I'm running out of hope and this isn't looking good

I say a curse beneath my breath and tighten my boot straps
I still have my hands, feet, and health, I can climb this giant, perhaps
Giving up is not an option; I've been on this road far too long
It's been rocky with many obstacles, but, my God, I've become so strong

The mountain isn't going to move, and I don't have the time to way
I can't even wait for the snow to melt, I must begin today
