Anti-sociatal Tendencies

Anti-sociatal Tendencies

A Poem by Mariah Lynn Thompson

I can't adjust to this reality
My heart nomadic, my brain elevated
On a different plane, it seems
Society tells me I can't be myself
Society wants me to live a lie
A revolution of sorts brews within me
I cry, but why?
Because society wants be to be
This way, that way
"Down, sit"
Treat me like a filthy human
Inside is an ANIMAL!
Why must I suppress her?
No more! No more!
I am myself and I love myself
Strange and freaky
Wild, out of control
A little but crazy
And society wants to take that away from me
But I refuse!
The revolution has to begin now
Else it will never happen
My heart was torn to shreds
My brain tainted with lies
From these years I've lived
In a SYSTEM!
I didn't get a chance
To be who I was
Because I had to be
Someone I never was
