A Demon

A Demon

A Poem by Mariah Lynn Thompson

Keep far away from me
T'is not the angel you see
T'is a demon of the sea
(I have come from the ghostly mire)

A demon of the flame
Finding those in which to blame
For the ending is the same
(I will fall into the hungry fire)

A demon of the Earth
The reason for pain with birth
A toothy smile with no mirth
(I keep hold to each and every key)

A demon of the wind
Gleeful while the souls rend
Zealously awaiting the end
(These demons, they are all me)

T'is not the angel you see
