The GraveyardA Poem by Mariah Lynn ThompsonWritten back in November '15
I sit upon the hallowed ground
Observing not a sound Save the deafening silence that is death I look at the headstones Markers of forever homes Of those who have taken last breath I feel at home here Not a flicker of fear I want to join these chosen few To be buried in dirt To no longer hurt to become Earth that is new For this is our fate To be covered in slate To be alone but surrounded by bones Bones, maggots, and flies Reserved for the one that dies And forever leaves this Earthly home My soul is long forgotten My bones forever rotten Turned to dust with the passage of time My soul stays intact My body, attacked Neither of these are mine
