A Message to Death

A Message to Death

A Poem by Mariah Lynn Thompson

I want to be dead
So please cut off my head
and dress me like Marie Antoinette

Tie me a noose
No, no that's much too loose
It must fit snug around my neck

Sharpen my razor
Put on a black blazer
and watch as I slit my own wrists

Give me poison to drink
So I may not think
and eventually I will not exist

I'm quite a heavy sleeper
So come get me Grim Reaper
In your black robe, you're dressed to kill

You'll be quick, I can trust
But drag it out, if you must
Working with unprecedented skill
