I Want

I Want

A Poem by rhythm&blues
"

Human/kindness

"
I want so many things,
where do I begin?

I want the sun to shine in smiles
and people to be kind
no poverty, war a thing of the past
appreciation for simple tasks

Seems people run around in a daze
forgetting what really counts
it's all about love, empathy and charity
if our hearts were full
and our minds accepting
life would be otherwise exceptional

Yes, I wrote this as a reminder
for myself too,
I'm not unlike you,
sometimes I forget the beauty
that exists in the simplicity,
 miracle of miracles
 that we call humankind

Its good to give ourselves the odd aide memoire to be as complete a human being as we can.
"From my point of view, he can be called a remarkable man who stands out from those around him by the resourcefulness of his mind, and who knows how to be restrained in the manifestations which proceed from his nature, at the same time conducting himself justly and tolerantly towards the weaknesses of others."
George Gurdjieff.

I really relate with the message of this one on a personal level. Oftentimes I find myself wondering what would happen if people followed the reminder you outline in your third stanza. Maybe we would get the beloved community, the heaven on earth, that Dr. King believed in during his days as a reverend and civil rights activist. These are my favorite lines from this one: it's all about love, empathy and charity/if our hearts were full /and our minds accepting /life would be otherwise exceptional."

Would you mind if I printed this one out and put it in my wallet so I too can remind myself of what our collective goal should be? Thank you for sharing this.

I like the on going theme. I want a lot of things too but the question is Do I do everything I can to embrace all of those things in my life? Or do I merely want the things I never see coming true?
It is a great reminder but I would have made it a check list. To check of the things I want that really happened.

Thank you for sharing. Thank you for the thought in my mind now.

too true. in the business of living, in the want of material; we so easily forget. Age and the shedding of less important things and desires helps. :)

very noble thoughts indeed, very idealistic, but why not ? Nice work.

I think this is a desire for every man, woman, and child on the planet, my friend. A very heartfelt message that speaks to all of us. Well done:)

So many people are just plain old selfish. It is me, me, me. Lovely reminder to take the 'me' out. Nicely done. R&B! Angi~

You are welcome, R&B.
Preach. I feel you. People need to really learn to appreciate each other more in this crazy world and treat each other properly and not take things for granted.

My meditation teacher often reminds me that life is simpler than this.
