After, the Calm

After, the Calm

A Poem by rhythm&blues

Yes, yes the earth moved,

after the calm

you view the destructive nature

realizations that 'still'

keep you out of harm's way

the earth can move in two ways...for the good or for the bad...either way, later in life after much experience, we learn to protect ourselves and ride it out...sometimes that makes us miss good things we could have, which may not be the best thing...but it does keeps us out of harm's way.

love short pieces like this..leaves us places to go to as readers.

I like the overall feel to this...having a difficult time coming to terms with the word still in single quotes, though...I want to find artistic genius in it, but I'm afraid if that is the case it has soared completely over my head *laugh* Anyway. Nice work; I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

In the right context, sure...it's my absolute pleasure.
This is the way of Life - in times of chaos we look to the calm that we know will follow, knowing that these "still" periods will keep us sane. Provocative write!

Thank you so much for your kind words Rita.
There is also the surreal calm that comes after the storm. Many animals in nature understand the value of stillness. We too can learn from that in our physical, mental and spiritual worlds. Thank you for making those connections in this wisdom packed poem.

Thank you icelanicblue, appreciate your review and I never thought of it that way.
I agree with Sami...should be realizations that "still".

I like the sentiment of this one. Concise and simple, but yet effective in an interesting way.

a profound poem and a mind stirring verses to evaluate such logic, there are several analogy with this poem - a peace of mind after destructive scenario ..... or a message for we move on when the stillness comes, after bad experience..........

Some times even the observer must act, mix it up a little. Stagnation for long periods of time creates atrophy. Thought provoking, RB
