White FlowersA Poem by Clemency BorgeauLove is lovely loved.Remember when we dove through leafless branches? You took my hand to save me from my plight. A silent breeze was all it took Arisen from a molding book" An ancient tale of sorrow, writ with light. The musty leaves on freshly vernal ground Had filled our shoes with chilly wizened breaths Of nature, sunshine, sweet and daring, It was only fresh preparing. We had brushed away the rime, the death. My motor cortex failed its job that day; I fumbled over springly mossy bark. But your hand covered mine (Until the cease of time!) And loved my softened heart a darling mark. From underneath the musty leaves, There lay, exposed, a flower white. It peeked out naked, pure, and true, So I had plucked its stem for you, And gave you, kissed you, made you feel alright. For in your sheltered writer’s skull, The romance, tales of sea and song, Unfurl in nightmare, dark and blue, And there is nothing I can do! So I give you my heart, forever strong. © 2012 Clemency Borgeau |
