Broken WallsA Poem by Aehr
Oh the broken walls,
The fallen bricks, The creepers and wildflowers coiling the heart. Oh the dying sun, burning through leaves, Hanging from branches old, Whispering of stories untold. Oh the broken walls- Decades before, my home. Abode of my imagination, Musings of my blunt pencils, Brushes dipped in thick paint. Abode of my youth and innocence, Dreams, failures, The empty songs, the lonesome dances, The clumsy, drunken, inky nights. Oh these broken walls, Oh this broken heart- Shall we ever be whole again? © 2016 AehrReviews
